Post-forming, electro-plastic effect internal stress reduction in AA5754 aluminium alloy

چکیده

Aluminium alloys are one of the most efficient materials for weight reduction in car industry. However, favourable performance conflicts with difficulties transforming these through plastic deformation processes such as stamping. Among different issues, they characterised by a high springback effect. Numerous authors have explored use electro-plastic effect (EPE) to mitigate internal stresses and resultant springback. up-scaling existing laboratory solutions an industrial framework is critical challenge. Therefore, this work, post-forming (PFEPE) AA5754 material. Stress-relaxation + PFEPE experiments were conducted using electric pulse charge passing though sample, and, apart from impact on residual stresses, potential occurrence recrystallisation was evaluated. The results indicate that range pulses exists (>2000 A·ms/mm 2 <4500 A ms/mm ) which 10–30% can be achieved without critically impacting material's mechanical performance.

Effects of temperature gradient magnitude on bending angle in laser forming process of aluminium alloy sheets

Laser forming is a thermal forming process which uses laser beam irradiation to produce the desired final forms. In this article, the effect of temperature gradient across  Al 6061-T6 aluminum sheets on bending angle is studied. Input parameters including laser power, scan velocity, beam diameter, and sheet thickness are the effective process parameters which influence the temperature gradient....

Electro Discharge Machining Of Aluminium Alloy (LM6)-5 wt.% SiCp Composites Using Copper Electrodes

Metal matrix composites (MMCs) are now gaining their usage in aerospace, automotive and biomedical industries because of their inherent properties like high strength to weight ratio, low wear rate etc. To machine these types of materials conventional machining methods are unsuitable because of high tool wear and tooling cost. Electro discharge Machining (EDM) is one of the important nontraditio...

Positron Lifetime Measurements of Subsurface Region in Aluminium Alloy and Aluminium Alloy Composite after Dry Sliding

This paper presents positron lifetime studies of the subsurface region of AK12 aluminium alloy and Al2O3-particle-reinforced AK12 aluminium alloy composite after sliding against steel in the pin-on-disc machine. The defect depth profile detected in the AK12 alloy extended up to 300 μm but for the composite AK12 the range of this profile was significantly shortened to less than ∼ 90 μm. The posi...

investigation of nanocrystalline structucture of severe plastic deformed aluminium 6061 alloy surface by afm and xrd

wire-brushing is used for different purposes such as removing metal surfaces oxides, increasing surface brightness, improving fatigue properties and surface activation before coating. the wire-brushing severely scratches and stirs the metals in the surface layers, so that complicated metal flow gives rise to very large amount of plastic strain and increases dislocation density of the surface la...

Effect of internal stress and bias field on the transformation strain of the Heusler alloy Ni52Mn24.4Ga23.6

The effects of internal stress and bias field on transformation strain in the Heusler alloy Ni52Mn24.4Ga23.6 were investigated. It was found that both residual internal stress caused by the directional solidification during the growth and additional bias field with a direction consistent with the intrinsic preferential orientation would provide favourable conditions for exhibiting large transfo...
